Tribute to Jeanne Lamon

Here is my musical tribute to our loss of this great musician, an arrangement of the chorale prelude Ich ruf’ zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ,  by J.S. Bach, taken from my own recording made in 2011.

Jeanne Lamon’s dedication to her art and devotion to Tafelmusik is legendary. She built the orchestra from the ground up, and created a world-class ensemble and a great Canadian success story. It has been one of the formative influences on my career, and one of the privileges of my own life to work alongside her for over 30 years and to participate in the realization of that grand project. The example she set for us all, of fierce devotion to our art, and tireless and determined hard work to transform our ideas into reality will always be an inspiration to me. Without her powerful demonstration of the limitless possibilities of life and art, the Toronto Bach Festival would not exist. - John Abberger, Artistic Director
