Andrew Talle
LECTURER
Andrew Talle is an Associate Professor of Music Studies at Northwestern University and a Senior Research Fellow at the Leipzig Bach Archive. From 2004 to 2017 he was a member of the musicology faculty at The Peabody Conservatory and a Gilman Scholar of The Johns Hopkins University. He studied cello performance and linguistics at Northwestern University (B.M., B.A., M.A., 1995) and musicology at Harvard University (Ph.D., 2003). He is the editor of Bach and His German Contemporaries (University of Illinois Press, 2013) and the author of Beyond Bach: Music and Everyday Life in the Eighteenth Century (University of Illinois Press, 2017). He is currently at work editing a collection of travel diaries documenting the city of Leipzig during Bach's time there, and writing a monograph on the music for unaccompanied violin and cello.
