Pierre Cartier

Pierre Cartier is a double bass player as well as a composer and a singer. As a baroque music specialist he plays regularly with L'Harmonie des saisons, Les Boréades, La Bande Montréal Baroque. He also plays with numerous symphony orchestras and contemporary music ensembles.

As a composer and improviser he has revealed his strong affinities with poetry and ancient sacred singing through large-scale projects like Chansons de Douve (texts by Yves Bonnefoy), «Dis, Blaise...» chanson du Transsibérien (singing in full the famous poem by Blaise Cendrars), and Chansons de la belle espérance. Pierre Cartier is a current member of "musique actuelle" ensemble Jean Derome et les Dangereux Zhoms and jazz trio Évidence, dedicated to the music of Thelonious Monk.
