Dominic Teresi

Dominic Teresi is Artistic Co-Director and Principal Bassoon of Tafelmusik and teaches at The Juilliard School. He is also a principal player with Boston Early Music Festival and Carmel Bach Festival and a member of the chamber group QUICKSILVER. In demand on dulcian, baroque, classical, romantic, and modern bassoon, he has enjoyed engagements with Le Concert d’Astrée, Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, Handel and Haydn Society, L'Harmonie des saisons and others. His playing has been praised as “stellar” (New York Times), “breath-stopping … managing to plumb every technical trick while also shaping the music with great skill” (Toronto Star), and “reminding us of the expressive powers of the bassoon” (The Globe and Mail).

Mr. Teresi has received critical acclaim for recordings of Vivaldi and Fasch bassoon concertos, and has appeared as a concerto soloist throughout Europe, Australia, and North America. He has been a featured artist on CBC Radio, performing a nationally broadcast radio concert of bassoon concertos. In addition to his work at Juilliard, Mr. Teresi teaches at the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute and is on faculty at the University of Toronto.  He has presented research on the dulcian at the Musikinstrumentenbau Symposium in Saxony-Anhalt. He holds a Masters degree and an Artist Diploma in modern bassoon from Yale University, and a Doctorate in Early Music from Indiana University.
